2009 BRISBANE 2 IPSWICH CHALLENGE A ROARING SUCCESS

Sundays Goodna RSL Services Club Brisbane 2 Ipswich Challenge has yet again exceeded all expectations and raised much needed funds for charity Federal Member for Oxley, Bernie Ripoll said today.

Around 650 people participated in the eighth year of the successful 50km charity ride from Brisbane to Ipswich with participants and their families enjoying a great day from start to finish.

“The positive response from participants, sponsors and most importantly, the charities, has been overwhelming.

“This is definitely the best ride to date and I cant wait to hand over the funds raised to our charities the Royal Children’s Hospital Foundation and the Ipswich Hospital Foundation” Mr Ripoll said.

Early estimates show that over $20,000 will be donated to charity.

“The aim of the ride is to provide an event that is focused on fun, family and fitness and I think we delivered on all fronts.

“From the elite level cyclist right down to those that rode on family tandem bikes, this event encapsulated the Ipswich Festival atmosphere and a good time was had by all involved” Mr Ripoll said.

Bernie Ripoll was also quick to acknowledge the people that really make these events happen, the volunteers, participants and sponsors.

“I sincerely thank everyone who helped volunteer on the day and contributed to the success of this great event; your help is always appreciated and never undervalued” Mr Ripoll said.
